Multifamily - Laurel Woods Apartments

The cornerstone of Laurel Woods Apartments is its newly constructed, 3,000 square foot resident center. Enthusiastic residents and community leaders helped officially open the center on March 14, 2008 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The center, which includes a weight/fitness room, multi-purpose activity room, laundry room, computer lab, and kitchen and dining hall, provides residents with a place to come together and hopefully will instill a strong sense of community. The multi-purpose activity room is the perfect gathering place for people to relax and watch TV, play games, or just socialize, while the kitchen and dining hall make the center great for parties and large gatherings.

Laurel Woods has hired All Things Are Possible After School & Family Resource Centers, a non-profit organization, to develop programs, classes, drop-in activities, after-school care, and special events designed specifically for the residents of Laurel Woods. They provide financial education and job networking to the residents, as well as arrange for various business leaders to come and speak with residents on topics ranging from financial education to home ownership and obtaining loans. The after-school program includes homework assistance, tutoring, and trips to various points of interest around the Fontana/Ontario region. All Things Are Possible has also initiated a Business Club for children to engage and inspire kids to develop life skills which will evolve into business skills. The club enables them to gain self confidence as they are involved with various aspects of a business on a daily or weekly basis. It also provides them with a better understanding of the variety of choices that are available to them.

The computer lab allows residents to work on basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Power Point. We believe that providing computers and access to the Internet allows residents to stay abreast of job opportunities, as well as obtain training and education to which they might not otherwise have access.
